BLD004:  Severe Weather Policy

1.       Purpose

1.1.  The purpose of this policy is to protect the safety of our membership and guests during severe weather.

2.      Scope

2.1.  This policy applies to all groups and functions of Hager Park Reformed Church.

3.      Procedure/Policy

3.1.  Severe weather is defined as a weather condition that would compromise the safety of our members and guests. These conditions could be present during tornado warnings, ice storms or accumulations of significant snow.

3.2.  Cancellation of church programs or events will be the responsibility of the Pastor(s) and/or the vice-president of Consistory. They will inform the church office.

3.3.  Church activities will be cancelled if a tornado watch or warning is in effect one hour prior to a scheduled event. Activities can also be cancelled if significant snow or ice accumulation is present prior to an event or expected to occur during an event. Whenever possible, the decision and cancellation notice should be made one hour prior to the start of the scheduled event.

3.4.  Notification

3.4.1.    Notification of cancellation should be made to WCSG and WOOD TV. They will make the information available to the public on their respective web sites, radio and TV stations

3.4.2.    WCSG should be contacted through their web site: http://www.gospelcom.net/wcsg/closings/church.php to view closing information. Wood TV should be contacted by checking http://www.woodtv.com/global/Category.asp?C=35545 or watching channel 8.

3.4.3.    Notification will be the responsibility of the office staff during normal business hours. Outside of these hours, the Pastor(s) and/or the vice-president of Consistory will carry out the notification. The head of the scheduled event will also be notified.
